The East Lyme deputy fire chief has been placed on leave amid a state probe into recent fires.

Deputy Fire Chief Erik Quinn, who also serves as the town's deputy fire marshal, has worked for the department for 17 years.

A recent rash of brush fires, deemed 'human-caused,' are now under investigation by the state police fire and explosives unit, WFSB 3 reported.

The town's two independent fire departments were merged to form the East Lyme Fire Service last April.
